I have internet again! Finally, the world of art, games, and copious pornography is within my grasp once more! The sun is shining, I have a pretty new router, BBQs have become a frequent occurance, and I've just finished beating the shit out of some big chap in Fight Night Round 4; times are good. It seems that in my absense I have hit 20,000 pageviews - this is a good thing. Big thankyous to all of you lovely people who made it happen, you're all far cooler than everyone else. Especially you.
As it's the summer time now I'm looking at grabbing some crappy day job and saving some monies to do a spot of travelling or something. Australia is sounding like a bit of a winner, I was pretty much designed to live on a beach and surf after all. So until then I'm going to take advantage of the sun and free time and scribble like my life depends on it - my folio is looking boring as hell and needs bulked. E3 took place last week and it was acetastic; I took the week off to watch the live coverage and consumed a great deal of beer, became far too excited and generally shouted and whooped at my monitor a lot. My girlfriend looked pretty freaked out.
Anyhoo, the sun is calling so I'm going to hit the gym and then get back to replying to all of you nice people who have commented/faved my work. I love you all.
Gaming News
AARGH E3. So, it seems that 2010 will be the year of motion control.
Microsoft showed off Project Natal, their crazy camera based control thingie and it was definitely the highlight of the show. When Peter Molyneux came on to show off Natal's potential with his Milo demo I practically fell off my seat. Poor
Sony on the other hand were clearly rushed to get theirs out and as such presented a pretty early looking prototype. I get the feeling they hadn't intended to announce their motion device at all, but after Microsoft's beast of a presentation they wheeled out a couple of nervous-looking programmers and a shakey demo. Still you can see where they're going, and it definitely looks more practical for gaming. And finally,
Nintendo wowed the audience by showing off... absolutely nothing of any interest actually. Nice one guys. Anyway, here are my highlights of the week!
*
Left4Dead2 was the big surprise of the show. In a very un-Valve like move, they showed off footage of the sequel as well as a cracking trailer. I was skeptical, but now I am unskeptical. In fact I'm pretty darn excited.
*
Alan Wake was finally shown off and it's looking brilliant. I was beginning to think this title had just faded away into obscurity, but by gum it looks neat.
*
The Last Guardian, Team Ico's new project, was shown at the Sony presentation, and it looks gorgeous. I'm a huge fan of the series and the footage was really impressive.
*
The Old Republic, Bioware's upcoming MMO, sounds better by the day. Ace trailer was shown and it's alreadly looking better than the last three Star Wars movies combined; if ever there was potential for a WoW beater, it's this game.
*
Splinter Cell: Conviction totally blew me away. Awesome footage and a nice evolution of the series.
Obviously there was a ton of other cool stuff, from
Modern Warfare 2, to
God of War 3 and
Assassin's Creed 2, but that stuff really floored me. I love E3.
Over and out x
when you least expect it.
im just going to kill you
